Breaking Monopolies: Company’s Wind Turbine Couplings Secure First Overseas Order

Source: DateTime:2022-01-04

Recently, TMT's Overseas Market Business Division successfully secured an order for wind turbine couplings from SUZLON, one of the main wind turbine OEMs in the wind power market, breaking the monopoly held by competitors in the overseas market for wind turbine couplings. This signifies that TMT’s wind turbine couplings have reached a world-class standard in overall strength.

Wind turbine couplings, which connect the gearbox output shaft to the generator input shaft, are core components of wind turbine assemblies. They require high performance and involve significant technical challenges; the market has long been tightly controlled by German companies KTR and CENTA. To break this hold, TMT has been determinedly committed to development, having started investing in research and development as early as 2012 and first achieving mass installation domestically in 2019. However, the challenge of convincing overseas customers to take the first step remained significant.

In order to penetrate the overseas market for wind turbine couplings, TMT's Overseas Business Division conducted thorough research on potential clients, established a detailed market development policy, and evaluated from multiple dimensions including cooperation history, customer trust, and pricing, ultimately targeting SUZLON as the customer. Through close video and telephone conferences, overcoming communication difficulties brought by the pandemic, TMT finally impressed the client, securing their choice of TMT as a wind turbine coupling partner.

Currently, major countries and regions around the globe have pledged to achieve carbon neutrality goals by 2050-2060. As a form of green energy, the overseas wind power market is bound to experience robust growth. The breakthrough with SUZLON’s wind turbine couplings is just the first step. As the product proves its operational reliability, TMT’s wind turbine couplings are expected to expand to global wind turbine OEMs, creating a new billion-yuan growth point for the company and making an outstanding contribution to the world’s green energy.
